Dolphins defense played on 100%
Miami’s defense played lights out in its second-half rally to help propel Miami to a victory over the Falcons. Forcing 3 straight turnovers on downs while Miami was scoring on each of its possessions. Cameron Wake and Ndamukong Suh both got sacks in these second-half stops. These defensive stands set up the offense in great positions to win football games. To top it off Atlanta native and former Georgia Bulldog, Reshad Jones ricks off Matt Ryan to seal the game.
Second Half Offense Was Big
Miami’s Offense was running the ball well in the first half but the passing game just wasn’t there. Finally after throwing a red zone interception before halftime. After halftime, Miami goes down the field and starts putting points on the board. Jay Cutler finds Kenny Stills and then Jarvis Landry in the end zone. getting 2 field goals from Cody Parkey proved to be the difference going towards Miami’s 20 unanswered points. Jay Ajayi got 59 out of his 130 yards in the second half.
Defense Stops the Run
The Dolphins defensive front was all up in the Falcons grill. Pressuring Matt Ryan 5 times and batting 2 balls and holding Devonta Freeman to 68 yards rushing. Containing Freeman was big for Miamis defense as they neutralized the Falcons rushing attack. 2 sacks in the second half sacks helped towards getting stops. Keeping the dolphins in the game to pull off the comeback win.
Jay Cutler Throws 2 Touchdowns
Down 17-0 after the half, the Dolphins go down the field as Jay Cutler finds Kenny Stills in the back of the end zone after evading pressure and going up in the pocket. On the very next drive, Jay connects to Jarvis Landry for a 7-yard touchdown after some movement before the snap sets up Landry’s big touchdown bringing Miami within 3.
Ready to Host the Jets
The Dolphins will have division rival the New York Jets in town just 3 weeks removed from their last matchup in New York when the Dolphins lost 6-20 and basically got shut out. With Miami winning 2 straight and finding how to win games they should do well if they can establish the run game. In their last meeting, the Jets defense did not let Jay Ajayi get loose. For Miami to stay with AFC East-leading Patriots this is a must-win game.
