The Florida Gators have added another monster on the offensive side of Florida’s 2018 recruiting class. ESPN 300 and four-star running back Dameon Pierce committed to the Florida Gators. Pierce’s commitment came as a surprise since the Auburn Tigers seemed to be the favorites to land the four-star running back. Dameon Pierce is the 17th recruit to join Florida’s 2018 recruiting class. He is the eleventh offensive recruit to join Florida’s class with Matt Corral, Iverson Clement, Dante Lang, JaMarr Chase, Jacob Copeland, Corey Gammage, Jalynn Williams, Tyquan Thornton, Curtis Dunlap Jr. and Kyle Pitts. He is also the second running back to join the class with Iverson Clement.
Who is Dameon Pierce?
Dameon Pierce is a four-star running back out of Bainbridge High School in Georgia. The Gators are very lucky to land the out of state running back who is considered to be a top ten running back in the country. Dameon Pierce has 17 offers from school like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Stanford. His two finalist were Auburn and Florida but the Gators were able to pull off the upset and steal Pierce from the Tigers. Dameon Pierce is the 186th recruit in the country and the ninth ranked running back in the nation according to 247 Sports. On ESPN, Pierce is the 102nd ranked recruit in the country and the seventh ranked running back in the nation. Florida’s running back coach JaJuan Seider and tight end coach Greg Nord were the two main recruiter for Pierce.
The Gators signed Iverson Clement early in the process and he’s a speedy and very athletic running back. Unlike Clement, Pierce is a big, strong running that bulldozes through people. He is 5’11” and weighs 205 pounds of muscle. While he is a strong running back, he also has some speed to him. Pierce has been clocked at a 4.51 40 yard dash. He max benches 330 pounds and has a vertical out 38”. Pierce is great runner between the tackles and shows a nice burst of speed once he gets in space. He has a strong stiff arm and is really tough to take down. Great pick up for the Florida Gators that should end their running back recruitment as they have the two backs they needed.
