Coach Jim McElwain and the Florida Gators have stayed hot on the recruiting trail as the Gators have landed yet another recruit. The Florida Gators landed 2019 athlete Marcus Tillman Jr. Tillman made his commitment official through Twitter. “Born a Gator, Raised a Gator, going to be a Florida Gator,” Marcus tweeted. Marcus Tillman Jr. picked his hometown school over the Ohio State Buckeyes and Ole Miss Rebels. Marcus Tillman Jr. is the ninth recruit in Florida’s #1 2019 class. He is the second athlete to join Florida’s 2019 class with South Dade’s Tyrique Stevenson.
Who is Marcus Tillman Jr.?
Marcus Tillman Jr. is a 2019 athlete out of Jones High School out of Orlando, Florida. Early in the recruiting process, Marcus Tillman decided that he is going to play for the Florida Gators. Tillman has six offers from top of the line D1 programs. Since he is only an incoming junior, Tillman isn’t expected to receive many offers. Marcus Tillman Jr. has six scholarships from Kentucky, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi State, Ohio State and Ole Miss. Marcus Tillman Jr. has yet to receive a rating from 247 Sports and Rivals but that will all change with Tillman’s verbal commit to the University of Florida.
Marcus Tillman Jr. is a jack of all trades. He stands at 6’0 and weighs 190 pounds. That is a pretty good frame for any incoming junior. Marcus Tillman played both safety and outside linebacker in high school. In his sophomore season, Tillman had 58 tackles with 5 tackles for loss, a sack, 2 fumble recoveries, an interception, five pass breakups and one touchdown. Looking at his tape, you can see that he is a better outside linebacker than safety. He has good seed but I don’t think he has safety speed especially in the SEC. if he did play safety, he would be a strong safety because he is a thumper and makes plays when he’s around the football. Welcome to Gator Nation Marcus. Chomp Chomp!
