It is finally the most wonderful time of year as NFL football is officially back. The first game of the 2017 NFL season will be the Kansas City Chiefs against the New England Patriots. The New England Patriots are coming off their fifth Super Bowl title, after an incredible comeback win against the Atlanta Falcons. Rob Gronkowski is healthy, Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore are Patriots and Julian Edelman is out for the year. The Chiefs have also had a busy offseason, as they drafted QB Patrick Mahomes, released Jeremy Maclin, and lost Dontari Poe to the Atlanta Falcons, in free agency. Here is the preview for the Chiefs-Patriots season opener.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs will start their 2017 season opener against the defending Super Bowl champions. Most of the team is still intact. They are led by QB Alex Smith. Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill are the Chiefs’ top two pass catchers. The Chiefs defense is still elite even with the loss of Poe. Free Safety Eric Berry is back as he signed a long term extension to stay with the Chiefs. Marcus Peters is still a Chief making that Kansas City secondary very dangerous. Derrick Johnson and Justin Houston make the Chiefs linebacker core, one of the best in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the best football teams in the NFL and they will try to showcase and prove they are ready to surpass the New England Patriots.
