Last night in Atlanta the Texas Rangers played like a team trying to get to the postseason. The Rangers offense hit early and often at SunTrust Park and the Braves lineup did not have a response to the Rangers pitching. Matt Adams provided all of the Braves scoring with his 20th homerun this season. Matt Adams played in left field last night for the Braves as Braves manager Brian Snitker is trying to put his most competitive team on the field. Nick Markakis scored on Matt Adams homerun and Markakis had a good night at the plate going 2 for 4 at the plate.
Matt Adams Hits 20th Dinger
Matt Adams takes advantage of his starts in Atlanta and playing in left field is not his best position. Adams is more comfortable playing first base but the Braves every day first baseman is Freddie Freeman. Freeman is playing with soreness in his left wrist which he broke earlier this season. Matt Adams may get a few more starts at first base but it is very hard to keep Freddie Freeman out of the lineup. When asked by reporters this past weekend Freeman said he doesn’t plan on resting his left wrist until October 2nd, the Braves first off day after the 2017 schedule.
R.A. Dickey gave up his first homerun in the first inning and Dickey struggled on the mound last night in Atlanta. The Braves bullpen took over in the 5th inning and only allowed 1 more run to the lethal Rangers offense. Braves reliever Matt Wisler gave up a run in the 5th inning and the Braves bullpen did not allow another run for the rest of the game. The Rangers had scored 8 runs by this point and the Braves offense could not rally for a potential come back.
