The Atlanta Braves future is looking bright. Max Fried is the newest member of the Braves to give the Braves fans something to look forward to in the 2018 season and beyond. Fried was able to pitch the Chicago Cubs lineup very well and his only blemish was a solo home run he allowed early in the game. Max Fried is a tall pitcher on the mound and he does not give off the impression of a dominant player that will intimidate the opposing team.
When the Braves traded away Brandon Phillips last week there was a hole at the 3rd base position that the Braves have struggled with finding a consistent player this season. Luckily Rio Ruiz was able to fill in quite nicely at that position. Rio Ruiz was up earlier this year with the Braves but he struggled in the batter’s box and major league pitchers were starting to figure out how to pitch around him and keep him off the base pads. The same situation happened with Dansby Swanson and when Swanson was sent down to AAA Gwinnett he was able to sort things out at the plate and his return to the majors showing the Braves fan a much more relaxed player who took more walks in the game and hit the ball with more consistency.
Johan Camargo is coming off the disabled list today as the Braves return to SunTrust Park today for a 7 game home stand. The Braves will have plenty of position players now with Dansby Swanson, Rio Ruiz, and Johan Camargo all ready to play in the infield. Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman had a good game at the plate yesterday and got a couple of hits.
Freeman is playing with a sore left wrist, the same wrist that he broke earlier in the season that sent him to the disabled list for 7 weeks. Even though Freddie Freeman is bothered by his wrist, he still plans on being in the starting lineup for the rest of the season. Braves manager Brian Snitker will have the final decision on Freeman will be in the lineup or not. Freddie Freeman is a leader on his team but playing at less than 100% is not very healthy for him in the long run.
The Braves will start a new series with the Texas Rangers tonight in Atlanta. The Braves will send R.A. Dickey to the mound as the Braves look to slow down the Rangers who are looking to go to the post season as a wild card in the American League. The Braves are not in the playoff race in the 2017 season but they are in the rebuilding process. With their young rookies making their major league debut this season the Braves future is looking very bright. The 2018 season will be a lot of fun in Atlanta and the Braves coaches and front office will help put together a team that might be competitive. The Braves can still play the role of spoiler for the rest of the season and look forward to October 2nd when the off season will officially begin for the Braves. GO BRAVES!!!!!
