It’s hard to say what is the bigger issue in Atlanta. Is their offense to blame for their struggles or is it a pitching issue that continues to plague the Braves? Last night the Miami Marlins bats came alive later in the game and the Atlanta Braves relief pitchers had no answer. Starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz had his problems on the mound but Foltynewicz continues to improve on the mound. Mike Foltynewicz retired 5 of the first 6 batters he faced and his fast ball got up to 100 MPH on the radar gun.
Freddie Freeman had a good night at the plate going 2 for 4 with a home run for the Braves only score last night. The Braves starting lineup is going through major changes as they near the end of the 2017 season. Braves manager Brian Snitker is trying to play as many of the rookie players as possible and it can be frustrating for Braves fans to see different players from game to game. Last night the Braves rested their hero on Thursday night Kurt Suzuki and Tyler Flowers got the start at catcher.
The Braves are trying to figure out who will be their best option at 3rd base, a position that has had a revolving door since the retirement of their All Star 3rd baseman Chipper Jones. Brian Snitker has used many players at that position and even tried using All Star 1st baseman Freddie Freeman at 3rd base. Rio Ruiz, Johan Camargo, and other young prospects are trying to win the starting role at 3rd base and this will be a major question mark as the Braves go into the off season. The Braves starting pitching and bullpen will be other issues the Braves front office and coaches need to addressed.
Max Fried will get the start tonight at SunTrust Park as the Braves look to get back on track with their division rival. Max Fried looked good in his last outing as he is looking for his second major league win. Brian Snitker has not released his starting lineup this morning and it is anyone’s guess who will start at 3rd base and if Brian Snitker will rest any of his starting players. The Atlanta Braves lineup has many questions and this is still a rebuilding process and the Braves are doing their best with the players they have. The Braves have 2 more games with the Miami Marlins before they enjoy their day off on Monday. GO BRAVES!!!!!
