With Dan Mullen as the Florida Gators head coach, the first thing he needed to do was focus on recruiting. On his first day as Florida’s head coach, Mullen offered two four-star wide receivers and is on the road meeting with recruits and commits. With the early signing period just a few weeks away, Mullen needs to build a coaching staff around him and get to know Florida’s targets and commits. With around 10 available scholarships, the Gators are looking to fill their class with some of the top recruits in the country. A few of those recruits are currently committed to other programs and could possibly flip to Florida. Here are three commits that could flip to the Florida Gators.
Four-star WR Stephen Guidry
Stephen Guidry is a four-star wide receiver out of Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi. Guidry is an elite recruit out of the JUCO ranks. He is the #2 JUCO recruit in the country and he is also the #1 JUCO wide receiver in the country. Guidry is a 6’4” 190 pound wide receiver that any coach in the country would love to have. He is the type of player you center your offense around. Guidry is currently committed to Mississippi State and has 16 other offers. Guidry has other offers from Alabama, Florida, LSU, Miami, Oregon and South Carolina. Mullen’s first offer as Florida’s head coach was to Guidry. Mullen has also added wide receiver coach Billy Gonzales to Florida’s coaching staff. Gonzales was Guidry’s primary recruiter at Mississippi State which could really give Florida an advantage. Coach Gonzales visited Guidry at his school Tuesday morning.
Four-star WR Malik Heath
Malik Heath is a four-star wide receiver out of Callaway High School in Jackson, Mississippi. He is an Under Armour All-American and is currently committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Heath was the first high school prospect Mullen offered as the Florida Gators head coach. He is a 6’3” 210 pound receiver who uses his body and length to his advantage. He has pretty good speed as he runs a 4.43. Malik also has really solid hands and does great job of high-pointing the football. According to the 247 Sports Composite, Heath is the 196th ranked recruit in the country and the 39th ranked receiver in the country. If Mullen could convince Heath to take a visit to Florida, the Gators might have a real good shot of flipping him. Florida’s wide receiver coach Billy Gonzales also went to visit him at his school Tuesday morning.
Three-star WR Antoine Green
Antoine Green is a three-star wide receiver out of Rockledge Senior High School out of Rockledge, Florida. Green is a 6’2” 195 pound wide receiver committed to the Florida State Seminoles. The in-state receiver received his Florida offer on Tuesday from Dan Mullen. Antoine Green has 32 offers from some of the top college football programs. Green has offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon and Tennessee. According to 247 Sports, Green is the 333rd ranked recruit in the country and the 55th ranked wide receiver in the nation. This flip seems like a long shot since the Gators are recruiting higher ranked receivers and Ole Miss is making a push for him to flip. Green to Florida doesn’t seem like a high possibility but maybe Florida can land him if a few of their wide receiver targets end up elsewhere.
