The Florida Gators are just a few weeks away from the National Signing Day. The Florida Gators have the eighth ranked recruiting class in the country with 24 commits in their class. Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators will host official visitors this weekend including a former five-star recruit from the Transfer Portal. Six of the eight official visitors are either four or five-star recruits. Florida will also host two of their commits including one that has already signed his NLI to Florida. Here are the eight official visitors that’ll be at the University of Florida this weekend.
Avantae Williams is a four-star safety out of Deland High School in Deland, Florida. Williams is one of the top uncommitted recruits available. Williams was previously committed to Oregon before backing off his pledge last month. He’s also coming off an official visit to Miami last weekend. Florida is considered to be the favorites for the Under Armour All-American. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Williams is the 55th ranked recruit and the second ranked safety in the country. During his recruitment, Williams has received 27 offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon and USC.
Marc Britt is a four-star athlete out of Miami Christian High School in Miami, Florida. Britt is currently committed to the Florida Gators but didn’t sign during the Early Signing Period. Despite his commitment, Britt has received some serious interest in the other programs such as Miami and Penn State. Britt hasn’t scheduled any other official visits besides Florida for this weekend. If he doesn’t visit any other programs, Florida will be safe from a flip. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Britt is the 272nd ranked recruit and the eleventh ranked athlete in the country. During his recruitment, Britt has received 17 offers from schools like Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Miami, Nebraska and Penn State.
Princely Umanmielen is a four-star defensive end out of Manor High School in Manor, Texas. Umanmielen is a recruit to keep an eye on for the Florida Gators. He was a Baylor lean but that might have changed with their head coach, Matt Rhule, leaving for the NFL. Nobody has an idea where Umanmielen might sign with, but Florida is one of his top choices. He’s the only defensive lineman they are actively recruiting at this point. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Umanmielen is the 245th ranked recruit and the 11th ranked strong-side defensive end in the country. During his recruitment, Umanmielen has received 28 offers from schools like Auburn, Baylor, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and USC.
Ashaad Clayton is a four-star running back out of Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Clayton is currently committed to Colorado but didn’t sign with them during the Early Signing Period. The Gators have yet to sign a running back in their 2020 recruiting class. They did add former five-star Lorenzo Lingard from the Transfer Portal but still want to get one for their 2020 class. Clayton is one of three running backs Florida has one of their board. The only other back on Florida’s radar is Jahmyr Gibbs. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Clayton is the 163rd ranked recruit and the 17th ranked running back in the country. During his recruitment, Clayton has received 16 offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Texas.
Damarcus Beckwith is a three-star athlete out of Florence High School in Florence, Alabama. Florida has played a large role in Beckwith’s recruitment. Beckwith still says Florida is his leader but Tennessee is making a push for him. He just recently visited Tennessee last weekend and will be in Gainesville for this weekend. Beckwith is a 6’4” 215 pound athlete that Florida is recruiting to play tight end. Tight end should be a good role for him as he’s got size and playmaking ability to perform at a high level. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Beckwith is the 382nd ranked recruit in Florida and the 18th ranked athlete in the country. During his recruitment, Beckwith has received 17 offers from schools like Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
Jahmyr Gibbs is a four-star running back out of Dalton High School in Dalton, Georgia. Gibbs is currently committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He didn’t sign his NLI, during the Early Signing Period but will visit the Yellow Jackets on January 31st. Florida is the biggest threat to flip the Georgia Tech commit. Gibbs is a player that’s been high on Florida’s board for a long time. Georgia Tech is expected to keep him but that could change after an official visit to Florida. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Gibbs is the 103rd ranked recruit and the ninth ranked running back in the country. During his recruitment, Gibbs has received 28 offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, Georgia Tech, LSU, Ohio State and Texas.
Avery Helm is a three-star cornerback out of Fort Bend Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas. This is an interesting one as Helm is a Florida commit that has already signed his NLI to Florida. Helm couldn’t take visits in December because he was in the state playoffs. The Texas native could also help the Florida coaching staff recruit the other recruits on campus. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Helm is the 402nd ranked recruit and the 32nd ranked cornerback in the country. During his recruitment, Helm has received 23 offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Minnesota and TCU.
Justin Shorter was a former five-star wide receiver out of South Brunswick High School in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey. Shorter was at Penn State for two years before entering the Transfer Portal. Shorter entered the portal on November 26, 2019. Florida has been recruiting him hard and he’s even taken an unofficial visit to the university. Shorter will be on campus this weekend as the Gators coaching staff will try to get him to officially transfer. Shorter will need a waiver for the NCAA in order to play in the 2020 season. In the 2018 recruiting cycle, Shorter was the eighth ranked recruit and the #1 wide receiver in the country.
