It was a big night for the Miami Marlins and their starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto as he was making his MLB debut. Jordan Yamamoto was one of the minor leaguers that was dealt in the Christian Yelich trade. The Hawaiian born pitcher had a terrific MLB debut as he silenced the ST. Louis Cardinals offense. The Fish defeated the Cardinals in a 9-0 shutout victory. The Marlins offense also had a big night including Garrett Cooper who almost become the first Marlin to hit for the cycle. Brian Anderson and Miguel Rojas also had big nights against the St. Louis Cardinals.
St. Louis Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals weren’t able to complete the sweep as they dropped the final game of the series. Right-handed pitcher Miles Mikolas got the start and loss for the St. Louis Cardinals. Mikolas threw five innings allowing eight hits, five runs, one walk and four strikeouts. Relief pitcher John Brebbia came in relief as he pitched one inning allowing two hits and three runs. At the plate, the Cardinals had a really rough night as they couldn’t score a run but did get three hits. Paul DeJong went 1-4 with a double. Kolton Wong went 1-3 with a single and Paul Goldschmidt went 1-4 with a base hit.
Flip the M! The Miami Marlins were back in the win column Wednesday night which snapped a six-game losing streak. Right-handed pitcher Jordan Yamamoto got the start and win for the Miami Marlins. Yamamoto threw seven innings allowing three hits, no runs, two walks and five strikeouts. Reliever Nick Anderson pitched a perfect inning and picked up a K. The Fish had a great game on the mound and at the dish as they scored nine runs on twelve hits. Garrett Cooper had a career game as he went 3-5 with a grand slam and a triple. Miguel Rojas went 2-4 with a double. Brian Anderson went 2-4 with two singles and a base on ball. Curtis Granderson went 1-4 with a three-run home run and JT Riddle went 1-1 with a double off the right field wall.
The Miami Marlins will take a day off before their next game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Right-handed pitcher Trevor Richards will be on the mound for the Miami Marlins.
