After taking a day off from baseball, the Miami Marlins are back in the win column. The Fish defeated their N.L. East rival, Atlanta Braves, 2-0 on the road. Dan Straily got the start for the Marlins and pitched his best outing this season. The Marlins top of the order got all of the hits in the ballgame. Nick Markakis did most of the damage for the Atlanta Braves and Brad Zeigler closed the game for the Fish.
The Atlanta Braves started off their three-game home series on the wrong foot with a shutout loss to Miami. Right-handed pitcher Matt Wisler got the start and loss for the Atlanta Braves. Wisler threw 5.1 innings allowing five hits, two runs, no walks and five strikeouts. Luiz Gohara came in relief and pitched 1.2 innings allowing no hits, no runs, no walks and a K. The Braves pitching threw well but their offense didn’t produce much. Nick Markakis was really the only batter in the lineup that hit well as he went 3-4 with a double. Johan Camargo was only other player in the lineup to get a hit as he went 1-3 with a single.
It was a big win for the Miami Marlins as they get ahead of the very talented Atlanta Braves. Right-handed pitcher Dan Straily got the start and win for the Miami Marlins. Straily threw seven innings allowing three hits, no runs, three walks and six strikeouts. Brad Zeigler got the save for the Fish as he pitched one inning allowing one hit, no runs and no walks. At the plate, the Fish didn’t produce much but it was enough for the win. Starlin Castro had a nice night as he went 2-4 with a RBI double. J.T. Realmuto went 1-3 with a walk and RBI triple. Martin Prado went 1-3 with a walk and Brian Anderson went 1-4 with a base knock.
The Miami Marlins will be back on the diamond tomorrow to take on the Atlanta Braves once again. Right-handed pitcher Jose Urena will get the start for the Miami Marlins.
