With the Under Armour All-American game less than a week away, the players will prepare themselves for the game and recruit some of their peers to their respective schools. The Florida Gators have five commits at the All-American Game including four-star QB Emory Jones. The Georgia native said that he has a list of recruits he will target, to consider the Gators, during his time at the Under Armour All-American Game and practices. The Gators have several targets at the game and some of them are musts in the class. Here are the top five Florida Gators targets at the Under Armour All-American Game.
Five-star OT Nicholas Petit-Frere
The Florida Gators offensive line was a major disappointment last season. They were hyped up to be one of the top offensive lines in the country but they weren’t even one of the best in the SEC. One of their biggest issues was the lack of depth. Florida really needs to add offensive lineman to the class and the best available offensive line is Nicholas Petit-Frere. The five-star offensive tackle is one of the top recruits in the country. According to 247 Sports, Petit-Frere is the fifth ranked recruit and the top ranked offensive tackle in the country. Frere is a 6’6” 272 pound offensive tackle who could make a huge impact on the Florida Gators offensive line. Most of the Gators offensive line will be open for competition and Frere will be in the mix if he signs.
Four-star WR Jacob Copeland
When Jim McElwain became the Gators head coach, he made Jacob Copeland a priority for the beginning. The in-state WR is one of the biggest playmakers in the country and has drawn interest from some of the elite programs in the country. The Gators must compete with Alabama and Tennessee for the prized receiver. Copeland was originally committed to Florida but backed off his pledge due to the coaching change. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Copeland is the 54th ranked recruit and the ninth WR in the country. If Florida can land Copeland again, he will one of the top wide receivers on Florida’s roster and should get some playing time as a freshman.
Four-star LB Xavier Peters
One of the biggest position of need for the Gators 2018 class is linebacker. The Gators have only signed one linebacker in their class but needs to add 1-2 more. One of those linebacker they are after is Xavier Peters. The Ohio native is currently committed to the Kentucky Wildcats but didn’t sign with them during the early signing period. Peters has received 28 offers from some of the top schools in the country like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma. Peters has announced that he will take an official visit to Florida on the January 19th. If the Kentucky commit can qualify academically, the Gators are a threat to flip the All-American linebacker. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Peters is the 196th ranked recruit and the 14th linebacker in the country.
Four-star WR Justyn Ross
The Florida Gators are in need of wide receivers and there are a lot of talented receivers in the class. One of the latest names to come up is the four-star WR Justyn Ross. The Alabama native will be taking an official visit to the University of Florida on January 12th. The Gators will have a lot of work to do with Ross as he is favored to sign with Clemson. If the Gators don’t land Ross, they will have a lot of top rated wide receivers on their board like Tommy Bush, Anthony Schwartz, Marquez Ezzard and others. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Ross is the 59th ranked recruit and the tenth WR in the country.
Four-star DT Coynis Miller
Earlier in the season, the four-star defensive tackle Coynis Miller committed to the Auburn Tigers over the Florida Gators. Now, the Gators might have another chance at the talented DT. Coynis Miller announced Saturday night that he will be taking an official visit to Florida on February 2nd. The Gators need defensive lineman in their class especially defensive tackle. The Gators lost their top defensive tackle in Taven Bryan and will need to pick up a DT or two. The JUCO DT Noah Jefferson has already named Florida as his leader but the Gators will still need to add another DT. Miller would be a really solid addition to the Gators class if they are able to flip him. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Miller is the 147th ranked recruit and the 13th DT in the country.
